If I asked what you think it was, you would probably answer: a snippet of a marble floor…
Well, in fact it’s a rug…Surprised? We know marble primarily as stone, used for worktops and bathrooms, but because of its beautiful, organic veins, marble’s pattern is now being used in both wallpapers and in rugs…The rug in the picture above has been designed by Micheala Schleypen and can be purchased from Frontrugs. This is definitely product of the first week of June, as it resembles Cararra marble- one of my favourite stones, and at the same time brings the softness of lustre cotton. Another stunning, a bit more colourful marble-inspired design by Rodarte is available from the rug company:
Both rugs would look beautiful on ceramic or stone tiles, or even on a concrete floor. If, however, you would prefer to see marble on the walls, why not be brave and use a marble resembling wallpaper?
This wallpaper must have been inspired by another stunning marble stone, known as bianca eclipsia, which I have recently used in a kitchen project as worktop material. If you can find place for it at home, you can purchase the wallpaper from the Ferm Living store.
